That's very interesting and I was not aware of that location. I know another camp was opened to the south in Chalan Canoa for locals and a POW camp was created further north. I am familiar with the pre-war Japanese sports field in Garapan. Please tell me more.

To the north of the Garapan sports field was the Japanese hospital which was used as a post office by the American military. To the south was the Japanese jail. I have done research on that jail but little information and no pictures exist. Do you have any info on that? I am very interested.

I have for years been wondering, what ever happened to a colored man who killed a navy officer. Then he raped a navy nurse and then shoot her. I guarded him in navy hospital. He was wounded by navy officer before he killed the nurse. Never knew what happened to him after they sent him to GUAM.

I have lived in Saipan since 1996 and enjoy learning about the amazing history of this island. This is a collection photographs that I believe to be public domain.
