The Battle of Saipan ended July 1944 and America began its military build-up of Saipan. Cities of Quonset huts grew overnight around the airfields to house more than 200,000 U.S. soldiers, sailors, and airmen in the Northern Marianas. Even after the end of WWII the Naval Military Government of the Northern Mariana Islands continued until 1947. These are some miscellaneous pictures of soldier's lifestyle from this time period in Saipan's history.
